Transcription: A parallel, or LPT port, is a communication channel specially designed to send information to a printer. The channel is not totally one-way because the printer can send a few signals to your computer, such as an out of paper signal. The computer sends data to the printer over several wires instead of one, unlike a serial port. Using several wires allows the parallel port to transmit data to a printer more quickly than a serial connection does.
